Empathy in patients with anxiety disorders - pilot study of capturing change during a psychotherapeutic stay
Linhart, David ; Preiss, Marek (advisor) ; Křížová, Ivana (referee)
This diploma thesis was created as a part of a doctoral research project of Mgr. Ing. Sofia Diondet, and was a basis for two other diploma theses of Bc. Nikola Hanušová and Bc. Michaela Škrábová. It studied empathy in patients with anxiety disorders and its main aim was to capture change in empathy within this population after a 7week psychotherapeutic stay. Thesis had several secondary aims: to verify lower level of empathic functioning in anxiety patients and an existence of a positive relationship of self and interview rated empathy; also, to determine whether there is a relationship between empathy and anxiety symptoms. To achieve this, two groups were created: experimental (N = 50) consisting of anxiety patients and control group (N = 19) consisting of healthy volunteers of which 12 finished both examinations. Scores of em- pathic functioning measured by STiP-5.1 and LPFS-BF 2.0 were taken before and after the 7week psychotherapeutic stay along with scores of Beck's questionnaires of anxiety and de- pression. To analyse the data non- parametric Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests, ANOVA (Kruskal-Wallis) and Spearman's correlation coefficient were used. Total emphatic functioning and all its facets improved (scores decreased) after psychotherapeutic stay in the experimental group; though the only...
The Group Metacognitive Training for Adolescents with Anxiety
Migasová, Natalie ; Rynešová, Tereza (referee)
The rigorous thesis is focused on the translation, creation and subsequent use of metacognitive training (MCT) in adolescents with anxiety in group therapy. The theoretical part deals with adolescence, anxiety and with description of metacognitive training. It is supplemented by a rich representation of current research about the mental health of adolescents and the effectiveness of metacognitive therapy applied in various mental disorders. According to existing trainings, the program created by us is divided into 8 modules, with a fixed structure, held once a week. Each module focuses on a specific topic that concerns anxiety, and worksheets for each module are also used for training. Using a quasi-experiment, we measured the current level of anxiety in the pretest and posttest using standardized method STAI, and the overall self-concept measured with PHCSCS-2. We found subjective feeling of anxiety, depression, a tendency to self-harm and difficulty attending school. A total of 7 participants participated in the experimental group and 8 participants were in the control group. Five parents filled in the pretest and posttest feedback. The results of the research show a greater reduction in anxiety and an increase in self-concept in the experimental group compared to the control group. There was no...
The therapy of emotional and behavioral problems after acquired brain injury
Piťhová, Zuzana ; Kulišťák, Petr (advisor) ; Hrachovinová, Tamara (referee)
The changes in emotivity and behavior are common after acquired brain injury, which complicates the readaptation of an individual to his environment. Compared to cognitive problems, these changes are not so greatly regarded because their complexity requires care in the context of its special neuropsychological treatment. The objective of the theoretical part of this thesis was to elucidate the issue of acquired brain injury and summarize current knowledge and experience in the field of therapeutic work with this specific group of people. The aim of the empirical part of this thesis was to design an appropriate educationally based preventive program that would focus on the experience of personality change after ABI. The goal of this program was to provide patients with information about the usual consequences of ABI and to provide a place to share the problems they experience. The effectiveness of this program was measured via the European Brain Injury Questionnaire (EBIQ) and the Zung Self-rating Depression Scale (ZSDS). The results were compared in the experimental group (N=30) before and after the completion of the program and in the control group (N=30). In the group that undertook the intervention, the EBIQ-P showed significant improvement in the subscale Physical. The ZSDS results showed...

Kubátová, Michaela ; Reichelová, Lenka (advisor) ; Pavlovská, Amalie (referee)
The aim of this qualitative study was to map the preparation and process of relapse prevention programs in therapeutic community for treating addictions in Czech republic called Magdaléna o.p.s.. The next aim was to describe the specifics of these programs and analyse methods that are mostly applied. For fullfilling these aims, four methods were chosen: analisys of documents, semistructured interwiews with the members of the team of therapists, observation of the researcher in the specific relapse prevention program during her internship and one semistructured interview with client of this therapeutic community. The final number of respondents for this research was four therapists and one client. Three metodic relapse prevention documents were analysed and for setting the final outcomes of this research were also used the outputs from the observation of the researcher from the specific relapse prevention program. Based on this research it was found out, that the specific relapse prevention programs in Magdaléna have been part of the long-term structured schedule of the treatment. This program is on the schedule once per week in duration of one hour and it is managed by one of the therapists. The program have been carried out in group and it is always based on one specific topic. Educational and...
